The list looks like this<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>700g loaf of Albany Superior Sliced White Bread, or store brand<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2-litre store brand sunflower oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2.5kg Iwisa maize meal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2.5kg Selati white sugar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2-litre store brand milk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2kg Tastic rice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2.5kg Snowflake cake flour<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>175g bar of Dettol Herbal Soap<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>9-pack of two-ply Baby Soft toilet paper (or store brand)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If some brands aren\u2019t available, alternatives will be used but our aim is to keep the products as consistent as possible every month. For a breakdown of our methodology, click&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/theoutlier.co.za\/outlier-grocery-basket\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">September&#8217;s basket<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Spar&#8217;s basket was the most expensive option this month and Shoprite&#8217;s was the cheapest. The same bag of groceries differed by R48 between the two stores. Pick n Pay&#8217;s basket was R37.30 more expensive, Woolworths&#8217; basekt was R27 more expensive and Checkers&#8217; basket was the second-cheapest option at only R17 more expensive than the Shoprite basket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-medium is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/editor.mediahack.co.za\/theoutlier\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2022\/09\/Group-51-1-600x598.png\" alt=\"Your grocery basket: Sept 2022\" class=\"wp-image-83461\" width=\"450\" height=\"449\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Your grocery basket: Sept 2022<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Notebook<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In June and July, we used the prices of the 18-pack of two-ply toilet paper.
