Sanlam says it paid out a total of R10.7-billion in claims in 2023, of which just over R5-billion was for funeral and death claims. The largest individual death claim amounted to more than R36-million.
More than half of all severe illness claims were for clients younger than 55, while 22% of disability income claims were from the 26 to 35 age group.
