Eastgate Shopping Centre’s rooftop solar PV installation covers an area of 2.8-hectares, the equivalent of about three rugby fields.
The total installed capacity is 6MW and meets 35% of the Johannesburg centre’s energy needs. The energy generated is used to power daily operations and the centre says it saved 1,910MWh of energy last year.
