South Africa is plagued by blackouts, commonly known as ‘loadshedding’. Using data provided by EskomSePush we tracked these blackouts between 2015 and 2020 to see which stage was most commonly implemented and how many total days of loadshedding were experienced per year.

How many schools in South Africa have access to the internet? Using data from a number of different sources, including official documents and Parliamentary presentations, we tried to establish exactly how many schools are connected. We then used that data to visualise the change in internet connectivity in schools from 2014 to 2019.
