Voter turnout in the 2024 South African elections dropped below 60% for the first time since 1994. Voter participation was highest in 1999 at 89.3%.
There were 27.8-million voters registered for this year’s election but only 16.3-million votes cast. 213,437 of these were spoilt ballots.
